Meal Delivery Services_icons_80x80_Variety Variety

One of the most important features of a meal delivery service is variety. There’s nothing worse than being presented with a menu of bland food. Fortunately, we feel that Silver Cuisine has a wide variety of meals available and they cater to lots of different dietary requirements.

Here are the different plans available:

Gluten-Free – All meals in this plan have been tested according to the FDA gluten-free standard (20ppm or less) and do not contain any wheat, barley or rye. Examples of meals include Grilled Salmon with Creamy Pesto, Bacon and Potato Egg Scramble and Sliced Ham with Mustard Maple Sauce.

Heart-Healthy – These meals support a healthy heart and fall on/below the American Heart Association’s recommendations for sodium, salt, fat, saturated fat, and calories. Meals include Merlot Meatballs with Grits and Chicken Pot Pie Crumble.

Diabetic Diet – Controlled carbs at each meal is vital for the maintenance of blood glucose levels and all meals on this diet follow the founding physician’s recommended carb levels of 25g or fewer NET carbs. Some of the meals on offer include Sweet Onion Frittata and Chicken Tortilla Stew.

Low Sodium – Each of these meals contain 600mg or less sodium per meal, which actually falls well below the recommended dietary guidelines of 2,300mg per day. Meals include Eggplant Lasagna Casserole and Hickory Smoked BBQ Beef with Yukon Gold Potatoes.

Low Carb – These meals contain 25g or less of NET carbs and include: Tilapia with Smoky Tomato Sauce and Roasted Corn and Scallop Chowder.

Menopause – During the menopause, your hormones are out of whack which means that you need extra support from your diet. The meals in this section are scientifically balanced with a focus on lean protein and low carb to fully support hormone regulation. An example of meals include Fisherman’s Seafood Stew and Mozzarella, Roasted Tomato and Basil Frittata.

Dairy-Free – All meals in this section are dairy-free. Meals include Beef and Broccoli and Chicken Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Gumbo.

Mediterranean – Meals in this section are inspired by the flavors and ingredients of the Med! Meals include Grilled Salmon with Lemon Dijon Dressing and Chicken Paella with Andouille Sausage.

Vegetarian – We were slightly baffled by this section of the website as the meals have been inspired by popular plant-based meals as well as seafood and fish! We feel that this section should be renamed “Meat-Free” or “Pescatarian” as the “Vegetarian” label is grossly misleading. Genuine vegetarian meals in this section include Roasted Tofu and Ancient Grain Salad Bowl and Raspberry Chipotle Roasted Vegetable Bowl.

What we really like about Silver Cuisine is that they haven’t skipped on flavor. On the contrary, they have taken time to ensure that each meal is not only nutritionally balanced but prepared using a variety of fresh ingredients too. Quite a few of the recipes are created using unexpected ingredients, so the meal delivery service can work for adventurous seniors too. Take the Southwest Bison Meatloaf with Smoky Tomato Glaze for example. This is the type of meal we didn’t expect to see. The chefs have taken a classic American favorite and added a few twists – not only replacing beef with bison but also pairing it with kidney beans and a mango slaw for a fruity, smoky meal that will keep you healthy and full.

Another example of where the chefs at Silver Cuisine have not cut back on flavor is the Raspberry Chipotle Roasted Vegetable Bowl. Simply bursting with smoky, fruity flavors, this vegetarian meal combines hearty sweet potatoes, black beans, cauliflower and onions with zesty lime and cilantro. The sauce is created with juicy raspberries and smoky chipotle peppers – a combination that will make anyone’s mouth water!

Flavor and taste are not an afterthought with these meals, so if you’re looking to excite your taste buds then Silver Cuisine will not disappoint.

Meal Delivery Services_icons_80x80_Convenience Convenience

This is one of the most convenient food delivery services out there. The problem with monthly food delivery subscriptions is that you have to plan everything in advance and create an account. With Silver Cuisine you simply choose the meals that you would like and wait for them to be delivered. There is no preparation involved at all, so it’s perfect for those who are looking for quick, nutritious meals to eat or for those who are unable to prepare their own meals.

For many seniors, grocery shopping, preparing meals and cooking is a hassle. This service takes the responsibility away from you and gives you a healthy meal that normally takes around 6 minutes to cook in the microwave or 30 minutes in the oven. Meals arrive frozen and can last for up to a year in the freezer. This is a super convenient way of eating healthy or sticking to a specialist diet. It’s very difficult to purchase healthy frozen meals from the supermarket of this quality. These are chef-prepared using fresh ingredients so ideal for seniors who will benefit from the specially formulated healthy options.

Pricing Pricing

There are quite a few different considerations to make when looking at the overall cost of Silver Cuisine. Of course, it would be cheaper to buy frozen meals from your local grocery store but it’s not as simple as that. Remember, one of the things you are paying for is the convenience, so how far is your grocery store? How would you get there? Would you drive? You’d need to add this into the cost of your meals to see if you really were getting good value for money. Also, these meals are physician-approved meals that have been freshly prepared by chefs. They are nutritionally balanced for senior customers, unlike most of the cheap “meals” you find in supermarkets, and are delivered right to your door. You pay for quality when you shop with Silver Cuisine.

Average prices are around $6.49 for breakfast items and between $7.79 up to $12.49 for lunch and breakfast items.

All deliveries are $19.95. This means if you’re only ordering a bagel with turkey and cheese you’re not going to get value for money. Be smart and order a few meals to make the high delivery cost worthwhile.

In comparison to other meal delivery services, Silver Cuisine is very affordable. You also won’t have to sign up for a monthly subscription so there’s no financial commitment.

Also worth noting, is that Silver Cuisine provides a discount to AARP members – 25% discount on your first order plus free shipping.

Bottom Line Conclusion

Silver Cuisine is a convenient meal delivery service for seniors and those who have special dietary requirements. Keeping track of sodium levels, NET carbs, calories, fat, saturated fat (and more) can be a nightmare but it’s essential for diabetics and people with heart problems. Cooking your own healthy meals from scratch is a time-consuming task and we recognize that some seniors may be unable to do this, and may also have mobility issues which means getting to the grocery store can be a problem.

Silver Cuisine offers a healthy solution for seniors, giving them a plethora of healthy food options to choose from. There’s no financial commitment to this healthy eating program. You simply click on the meals that you would like to purchase and pay. Whilst Silver Cuisine is certainly not the cheapest healthy eating option, it is comparatively cheaper than many other food delivery services on the market. We feel that when you take into consideration the dietary benefits, convenience and ease of cooking (just pop into the microwave or oven) then this service offers good value for money.

There is a lot of choices available too. The chefs certainly haven’t scrimped on flavor and have, in fact, created some really adventurous meal choices which are bursting with flavor.

Whether you are a senior or someone who is looking after their health, Silver Cuisine is worth a try. Take a look at their menu…we guarantee there will be numerous meals that will get your taste buds tingling in no time!
