  2. Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 or Windows 10. Note that 32-bit systems are not supported with Adobe Photoshop Elements
  3. At least 4 GB of RAM and 7 GB of hard drive space
  4. Display resolution of 1,024 x 768 is required, and a compatible display driver.

Setup Setup

As one of the best photo editing app products, users can expect rapid setup. To get started, simply download the 30-day free trial or purchase the software outright from the CyberLink site. It is approximately 332 MB download size for Windows and 317 MB for Mac operating systems. CyberLink PhotoDirector is fully supported on touchscreen PCs as well as high-DPI monitors.

User Interface User Interface

The user interface allows for easy edits, efficient workflow and a wide range of advanced features. The user interface switches between these functions with sharing, organizing and editing options. It is easy to navigate between the 6 modes available with this program, including adjustment, layers, library, print, slideshow and edit.

The UI offers a degree of customization. In the gallery view, all photographs that have been color labeled or flagged can be viewed. A mouse over each of the thumbnails in the gallery view reveals flagging buttons and star ratings. While in adjustment mode, a split-view screen can be toggled. This allows you to see the photographs that you have been working on in their original state and their edited state. The slider for a full range of zoom options is oddly absent.

Editing Tools

Editing allows for content-aware removal by simply brushing over objects in the photos. This feature blends all aspects of the undesired image component with the background. Face swap technology is unique to the program, and is available in the program’s Suite, Ultra and Deluxe variants. It is easy to remove blemishes from portraits or group shots. Users can also use the body reshaping tools to add natural contours to images and skin tone can be automatically adjusted to peel the years away, or create the perfect tan.

Other editing tools include RGB curves for white balance issues, bracket HDR to merge multiple bracketed shots, radial filters, gradient masks, 1-click preset and noise reduction. Overall, there are 40+ overlay templates to use during the editing process.

Features and Specifications Features and Specifications

Users can capture photos from videos, directly within the app. This is a rare feature in the world of photo editing.

The program checks all the boxes for photo management, with a complete list of supported RAW formats. Users can easily tag photographs for easier organization. The organization features and lens profiles are pretty extensive, and are ideally suited to working with large collections of photographs.

Import and Export Options

Photos can be captured directly to face swap, the multi-exposure feature or panorama. Once you’re ready to begin importing your photos into the program, be sure that they fall into the following file format: JPEG, TIFF and PNG. To get started with the import process, click on library à import, click on the removable device or computer files where the photos are located, then select the photos you wish to import. To export photos, simply select the export option and navigate to the export destination.

Pricing Pricing

The prices for the Ultra, Suite and Deluxe versions are $49.99, $59.99 and $89.99 respectively. Free trial periods are available for all three.

Bottom Line Bottom Line

CyberLink offers a very wide range of photo editing options for users, including some features that are distinguishing when compared to even the best photo editors on the market. The intuitive user interface is expertly crafted. There is some room for improvement, like quicker importing, geolocation tagging and further customization.
